New Projects
Immunomodulation in Osteoarthritis
We explore the role of inflammation in osteoarthritis and downstream tissue regeneration using sophisticated tissue models to replicate both healthy and diseased cartilage microenvironments. The project focuses on modulating the localization, migration and phenotypic stability of synovial T-cells using advanced biofabrication technologies and bioactive materials. If further explores the development of bioactive materials that can drive successful cartilage repair within these highly diseased osteoarthritic environments.
Bone Marrow
Tissue Engineering
We explore the engineering of the red bone marrow niche using a delicate mix of spongy biomaterials to regenerate a highly vascular fibrous tissue containing hematopoietic stem cells and supportive cells (fibroblast-, endothelial-, adipose-, osteoblasts- and/or stromal cells). Bone marrow is both an important part of the bone interior as well as the lymphatic system, offering a unique strategy to treat a wide range of both musculoskeletal and hematological diseases.
